For code, compare braces, brackets, slashes and ambiguous characters in a real snippet. For tables, check decimal alignment and whether long values fit; equal character widths do not make every table readable.

Keep code separate from prose with a proportional body font. Compare the pair at equal perceived size, not just equal CSS size, and test wrapping without hiding essential commands or values.
